How To Fix Ripped Tent

Packing and unpacking, pitching in the wind, people tripping over guy lines; the rigours of camping are tough on your flysheet and can lead to rips and tears in the fabric. Luckily, they're often easy to repair so you can have many more adventures before you even need to think about buying a new one.

Duct Tape will usually provide a good short-term fix when applied to both sides of the fabric. For a more permanent solution, we recommend using Gear Aid Tenacious Repair Tape, a clear tape that bonds to almost anything to form a near-invisible seal.

YOU WILL NEED:

Scissors
Gear Aid Tenacious Repair Tape
Your ripped tent

STEP 1: PREPARE

Choose a dry day and pitch your tent ensuring fabric area to be repaired is clean and dry.

STEP 2: CUT TENACIOUS TAPE TO SIZE

Using the scissors, cut a section of Tenacious Tape big enough to cover the tear and about 1cm of the surrounding area. Top Tip: making the tenacious tape a rounded or oval shape will reduce the chance of any corners lifting over time.

STEP 3: APPLY THE TAPE

Apply the tape over the tear taking care not to touch the tacky side with your fingers and making sure there are no creases or folds in the tape or fabric.

STEP 4: SMOOTH THE TAPE

Smooth out any bubbles so the patch lays completely flat and adheres to the fabric completely.
